1000 affordable housing units built in two years: Luke Maurice's project is not real?

The minister responsible for housing, Frans-Alain Durensau, wanted to reassure the public that this affordable housing project by Luc Maurice was too good to be true in Shawinigan.

The project involves the construction of ten buildings with 100 affordable housing units in ten different cities in 24 months at no cost.

Housing exclusively for seniors is available at $600 per month for a studio.

“We are going out with this project and the way we are going to finance it. It has really gone through all the stages of verification by governments. We feel we are well protected. Luke Morris of the Morris Group has an excellent reputation and has built over 12,000 homes over the past 25 years,” the minister explained on the 100% news program on LCN.

Furthermore, Maurice is the founder of the group that had the idea for the project and has promised the Quebec government that it will cover the costs in case of delays.

“A person who wants to give back to the society who has spent his life doing good housing, good treatment and a charity project for the elderly,” she said.

Towards other similar projects?

The minister believes the project could inspire others in the business community to create projects like the one announced Monday morning in Shawinigan.

“I believe there are plenty of people in Quebec and Canada who want to give back and give back,” Ms. Durensau stressed.
