91 Inquiries for Tracking Number: An order for Stanley cups turns out to be a disaster

An Ontario woman who ordered Stanley mugs got the same tracking number and started receiving multiple calls from other customers looking for their packages at her home, her delivery turned into a disaster.

Tracy Kampfersek wanted to reward her daughter by ordering a popular Stanley brand mug and took the opportunity to treat herself for Valentine's Day, CTV News reported Monday.

Even after she received her package, she began receiving numerous calls and messages from customers across Canada — even from Newfoundland — who weren't so lucky.

Looking at their tracking number, it appears that all other customers had their package delivered to an address in Ontario: Ms. Kampferseck's. However, the latter received only its own package.

For several days, the Ontarian received visits from UPS delivery men who were tipped to deliver these popular packages to her home.

It was during these conversations that she realized that everyone had the same tracking number as her when placing her orders.

“They said there are 91 investigations going on […] Regarding my tracking number,” she explained to the media. “At that time, I was very afraid that people would show up at my door.”

Although the tracking number was generated by Stanley, an internal investigation was initiated on the part of UPS. The mug company is yet to provide an explanation.

“I called them every day to ask for updates and all they would tell me on the phone was that the matter was under investigation and that someone would get back to me,” Ms Kampfersek said.
