On the occasion of Patriot Day, more than fifty people gathered on Monday afternoon at Square St. Louis in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough to pay their respects.
The event, organized by the Young Sovereign Movement, was peaceful. Most of the participants displaying Quebec, or Patriots flags, wanted to emphasize their pride in their Quebec identity.
“We want to remember the work of the patriots, and we still benefit from it. We want to remember those who lost their lives for us, but also the women who cooperated. [à la cause] », Catherine Bouillon-member of the Young Sovereigns Movement-Complaint.
“I’m here from duty to remember,” Nicholas Label said, wearing his sash from the start. “Beyond independence, there is something that inspires me in the patriotic struggle. Their struggle is for democracy and for civil rights, ”he added.
