The group said in a statement on Wednesday that it had appointed Karin Knissle, former head of the Austrian embassy where Waltz danced with Vladimir Putin in 2018, on the board of directors of Russian oil giant Rosneft.

The same source said the decision was made Tuesday at the annual meeting of Rosneft shareholders.
As an independent director, Mrs. Knisl joins former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, a longtime friend of Vladimir Putin and former BP boss Robert Dudley.
Between 2017 and 2019, Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Knissle invited Vladimir Putin to his wedding in August 2018 with businessman Wolfgang Millinger.
Waltz danced with the Kremlin master Karin Knisl, along with a group of Cossacks who sang for the couple, a scene that was heavily criticized by Austrian opposition at the time.
Rosneft announced a net profit of 149 billion rubles (1.7 billion euros at current rates) in mid-May, confirming a year-long recovery from the crisis.
In 2020, this behemoth net profit fell by 14.1 billion rubles (at the current rate of 1.6 billion euros), 79.1% compared to 705 billion in 2019, before the Kovid pandemic-19.
However, Rosneft is at the forefront of the global hydrocarbon scene and at the heart of Russia’s development strategy.
