Liberal Prime Minister Jean-Charles’ former adviser has been forced to resign as group director general of youth organizations over serious allegations of financial fraud.
The Network of Carrefour Junessi-Employee du Quebec (RCJEQ) announced on Wednesday that Alexander Soliers had filed a complaint with the Montreal City Police Department along with a legal request in civil matters, including the director of Mr. Souliers. Since 2011.
From the head of the group, which represents 111 youth community organizations in Quebec, he recently had to resign, indicating that Mr. Souliers had committed “serious” financial abuse.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars
According to two sources we contacted, he was accused of defrauding RCJEQ of several hundred dollars in at least three years, among other things, by awarding contracts to a number one company he had created.
He was accused of using a company credit card for expenses unrelated to his function in restaurants and hotels, as well as using a system of false invoices reimbursed by the company.
According to our sources, he also imitated signatures on documents.
Close to the liberals

Prior to working in the community sector, Mr. Souliers held various positions in the Liberal Government of the Party and Quebec.
Shortly before being appointed director of the RCJEQ, he served as political adviser to Prime Minister Jean Charest’s office, especially youth issues, from 2007 to 2011.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Alexander Soliers was a political attachment in the office of former MP Yolande James from 2006 to 2007 after joining the Liberal Party of Quebec’s youth commission from 2002 to 2006.
Liberal MP Monique Souve, who currently represents Fabre County in the National Assembly, chaired the RCJEQ Board of Directors from 2014-2015.
She worked with Mr. Souliers as a director for four years.
“Actually when I hear news like that, it’s very scary. I ‘ve had it so sincerely over the years, because of young people,” she commented, emphasizing that she had not worked with Mr. Souliers for “years”.
A luxury club
A member of the Mr. Souliers’ Club Saint-James de Montreal, a select private club in the city center, brings together business people who pay heavily for their arrears.
According to our sources, he regularly invites employees to eat there.
In 2017, Jean Charest was invited by RCJEQ to give scholarships to young people at a ceremony. The former prime minister was then the honorary president of the company for its 20th anniversary.
In 2019, the Saint-James Club published a text on its blog praising the work of Mr. Souliers as head of the community organization.
No charges have been registered against him so far.
In addition to the legal request and the police investigation, the RCJEQ fired an administrative employee as part of its internal investigation.
