Kovid-19: Anxious situation in Estre

Although the number of COVID-19 cases in Estre is stable, with an average of 157 new cases per day since Monday, the number of those admitted to the hospital is worrying.

In the last two weeks, the number of hospitalized patients in CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS has nearly tripled, from 12 to 34.

When there are 90 hospital patients in the 100 beds reserved for Kovid-19, these figures are nothing compared to those recorded a year ago.

But for the intensive carer and pulmonologist at CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS D^R According to Yanick Pauline, human resource shortages make the situation worse than they were a year ago.

“We have closed beds because we have a shortage of people, the world is tired and tired, so we can’t open them. Six beds in the intensive care unit were closed even though our units were full, ”D. admitted^R Pauline.

Over the past few days patients have had to be transferred to other intensive care units in Quebec.
