However, according to the New Democracy Movement, the Citizens’ Organization, which has been campaigning for reform of the voting system for many years, is refusing to resubmit its promise of reforming the voting system on its next election platform in 2022. .

Noting the official reason given by Minister Sonia Label for the cabinet, he said members of the Coalition Avenir Quebec opposed it, fearing that their seats would be lost if the reform was adopted.

Jean-Pierre Charbone has promised “anger”, “shock” that he will fight in the coming months to “keep people in the next election” in connection with Francois Legalt’s broken promise.

Referendum in 2022

Keep in mind that the Prime Minister introduced in late 2019 a bill that would change the way elections are held in Quebec. At the same time, he announced that he would ask Cubans to vote on the question in a referendum that was not part of his initial promise.

Since then, the file has made little progress, as Sonia Label suggested last April that the bill could not be expected to be passed by October 2022.
