Doubtful administrative management results are much longer than normal passport issuance and renewal times. Some suggest that the situation may have been anticipated.

Officials defended themselves by claiming that passport applications increased from 363,000 between April 2020 and March 2021 to 1,273,000 between April 2021 and March 2022, according to data from Employment and Social Development Canada.
But the argument of exploding more than a million applications in a year does not pass for everyone.
“We know the number of passports issued, and I hope the government knows that,” said Claudio Benedetti, an associate professor at UQAT. “He knows what’s falling, and with the error percentage, it’s calculated!”
He argued that such administrative chaos at the end of the epidemic was greater than expected, especially as “they themselves accepted. They say it’s “passport season,” so they know about it, “he said.
Employment and Social Development Canada boasts that it will “continue to hire and train more employees” through its spokesperson Maza Stenanovska, pointing out that its workers “work overtime to increase processing capacity every day and on weekends”.
This does not prevent delays from annoying people who are impatient every day in front of Service Canada offices.
