The bridge-tunnel connecting Montreal from the South Shore will be completely closed over the weekend as the city expects thousands of visitors for the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
“Complete closure of a section of AutoRoot 25 on the South Shore, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, as well as ramp closures at the AutoRoots 20 and 30 interchanges over the weekend of June 17. At 20,” the Minister des Transport du Quebec said in a press release.
These closures take effect from 12:30 pm on Friday night to Saturday and continue until 5am on Monday.
According to the government, it is necessary to set up a work platform in the tunnel and close it with the aim of starting work on the construction of signaling gantries at Highways 20 and 30 Interchange.
On social networks, this news has caused dissatisfaction from consumers. Many pointed out the reflection error.
“Great way to show Montreal what it is like for all the tourists in town for the Grand Prix! They really want to come back to visit our city, ”said one woman.
