Prime Minister Franకోois Legalt on Thursday afternoon assured that his government was closely monitoring what was happening at the Horn Foundry in Ruin-Noranda, Abbott-Temiscommingue.

“We are very close to the environment, to public health, and even to the economy, here we are talking to leaders and employers,” Franకోois Legalt said in response to questions. A press conference.
The Prime Minister said the closure of the foundry was not in question as it was of economic importance to the Roin-Noranda sector.
“People in Roin-Noranda do not want us to close the business. It’s very consensus,” he said, adding that there should be a plan to mitigate the health effects.
Then, Mr Legalt recalled Dr. Horacio Arruda explaining on Wednesday that it was important to be careful before telling the population that the number of cancers was rising in Ruin-Noranda because of the foundry. Data on this will be made public in the coming weeks by Public Health, he added.
Finally, the Prime Minister insisted on reiterating the independence of public health. “Once again, we have nothing to do with them, they’re really independent of public health. So it’s a public health decision, what they release and when.
