The legal professional general for New York explained on Tuesday that an arrangement had been arrived at to settle — for approximately $19 million US — two sexual misconduct lawsuits on behalf of multiple gals towards imprisoned former film producer Harvey Weinstein.
But attorneys representing 6 of the gals who have manufactured accusations against Weinstein termed the proposed deal a “sellout” that did not demand Weinstein, 68, to acknowledge accountability or personally shell out out any dollars.
The settlement, which however should be approved by a federal choose and a personal bankruptcy courtroom, would solve a lawsuit submitted against Weinstein, his generation firm and his brother in 2018 by the New York Attorney General’s workplace.
It would also settle a separate class-action lawsuit brought on behalf of ladies who accused Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault, New York Legal professional Basic Letitia James explained.
“Immediately after all the harassment, threats, and discrimination, these survivors are last but not least receiving some semblance of justice,” she explained on Twitter.
