Over 50,000 ticket requests: huge excitement for SuperFrancoFête

There is unprecedented excitement for the Super Francophate show at the Agora de Quebec on August 31st. 50,000 ticket requests were made for the 5,000 free seats available. We have just made the decision to broadcast this show-event also on the giant screens at Place des Canautiers.

SISMYK president and founder, Sylvain Parent-Bédard quickly had a big problem on his hands.

“I didn’t expect so much excitement. We initially thought we would attract 3,500 to 5,000 people,” he said in an interview.

The Superfrancofate, a nod to the big party in Quebec in 1974, welcomes nearly thirty artists, including Zachary Richard, Patrick Bruel, Stephan Eicher, Tiken Ja Facoli, Louis-Jean Cormier and Robert Charlebois.

The day after the start of the registration period for tickets, the requests exceeded all expectations of the organizers.

In solution mode, Sylvain Parent-Bédard, his team, people from the Agora, the City of Quebec and the Port of Quebec, visited the site yesterday to identify areas where it would be possible to install larger screens and accommodate larger audiences.

The Place des Canautiers site along Dalhousie Street in Quebec Port was chosen. The details of the huge screens that can be accommodated there and the number of spectators will be revealed in the coming days. The site is open to all and tickets are not required to access it.

“The first item at the top of the list is safety. We want people to have a fun experience without being on top of each other,” said Sylvain Parent-Bédard.

The president and founder of SISMYK, despite having a particularly high artistic poster, swears ironically that he never expected such success.

“We have already experienced some disappointments in the past,” he noted.

Was this performance staged on the Plains of Abraham to give an even bigger nod to the original event?

“It was clear from the start that we were in favor of presenting the Super Francophate at the Agora. There was a cultural renaissance in the area and we wanted postcard images of the river, Île d’Orléans, bridges, Château Frontenac and Old Quebec for international television broadcast. It’s an extraordinary setting and that’s the DNA we wanted for this premiere,” he explains.

With 50,000 ticket requests, getting to the grounds 13 days before the event was out of the question.

“The whole scene of the event revolves around the installations of the Agora site. The stage must be completely disassembled to install the scenography elements. Anyway, it is impossible to turn around with such a short delay,” he said.

The draw for allotment of Aghora tickets will be held on Monday. Winners will receive an email and must confirm their presence.

You can still register for the draw to get tickets to attend the SuperFrancoFête show at the Agora superfrancofete.com.
