“Waiting for you for three thousand years”: Tell me a story…

Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba bring this wonderful story from George Miller to life.

George Miller is the guy in “Mad Max,” but also in the animated films “Little Feet of Happiness,” and “Three Thousand Years Waiting for You” falls into neither of these categories.

As the feature film Dr. Alithea Binny (Tilda Swinton) is the story of a storyteller, she specializes in the science of storytelling. An expert in narrative structures, Alithea arrives in Turkey to participate in a symposium. In a souk in Istanbul, she buys a small bottle of… which soon turns into a genie (Idris Elba), in other words a genius. So she has three wishes and this is where things get tough.

“Arabian Nights” (The Tales) as well as “The Thief of Bagdad” (1940 Feature), and also in Terry Gilliam’s times – especially the absurd comedy of the power struggle in the Topkapi Palace – , the genius tells him his – very long story – 3000 years ago he was the Queen of Sheba (Yes, the Bible) said when he lived with. But now, Alithea wasn’t born yesterday, and she knows all too well that stories of genius and lust always end badly. What are his desires? The solution lies in the title and ending of Jin’s story, which introduces the third part of this 108-minute film.

Visually, “Waiting for You Three Thousand Years” is lavishly rich with sets, glittering costumes (Tilda Swinton looks like Wes Anderson) and impressive special effects (the almost faunistic aspect of ‘Idris Elba’ with his pointy ears and hairy legs or King Solomon’s musical instrument). especially becomes a real orchestra). From a scriptwriting point of view, the feature film is a little weak, the audience never gets fully emotionally invested in the story, which is all about the epic epic. shame
