“Slimani won’t talk to me”

Despite leaving Sporting Portugal, Islam Slimani’s Lisbon club coach Ruben Amorim has hinted that the truth about his treatment is about to come out. After that he responded officially.

Funny business, sad ending for both parts. Islam Slimani, who returned to Sporting CP to complete the loop, started very well at first before being dropped after returning from the double play-off against Cameroon.

Rumors abounded about this sudden reversal, and Slimani himself suggested that there was some kind of racism-related potential with his Ramadan fast. He has since joined Stade Brestois but tweeted that the dispute between him and Amorim was not over.

The latter responded formally, and although he was very polite, he was very stern: “Slimani thinks a lot about his image and what other people think. He waited for the right moment to speak. I want him to continue to be a hero to the fans, you don’t get any criticism from me on him.“He first declared before continuing with less civility:”I don’t answer him because I said everything to his face. I got a chance to say things on my face too but I didn’t open my mouth. That’s the main thing for me, I sleep with a clear conscience. (…) When he returns to Lisbon, my office will be open to him and I will say things to his face“. A sad story ending for all parties?
