“Payments to approved members of subgroup 1 (time loss) and eligible payments of up to $90 began on July 11. [mardi] and ends on July 13, 2023 [jeudi]. This is an Interac e-transfer and no text is sent. For those who wish to receive their payment by check, these will be sent by post by July 19, 2023”, we can read on the website of the class action, which is managed by the company RicePoint Administration.
Over $200M
It should be noted that in June 2022, the Superior Court of Quebec approved a $200.9 million settlement in the case.
To receive compensation, each consumer must provide an answer to one of three security questions asked when submitting their claim (unless they are registered for automatic deposit of wire transfers through their financial institution).
“If you enter the wrong answer four times, your payment will be blocked,” warns Ricepoint.
In June 2019 it is no longer possible to submit a claim for “loss of time” due to the leak of personal information made public. Deadline is April 20, 2023.
Other allowances are available
However, Desjardins members and clients who have suffered “identity theft” can still submit a claim if they have the necessary documentation. RicePoint stipulates that “each person who submits a valid claim will receive a lump-sum compensation in the amount of $1,000.”
