A first in Canada for a Subway restaurant in Terrebonne

10 months after the city of Terrebonne banned single-use items, 90% of restaurants with dining rooms have complied.

Some large fast food chains are still struggling to do the same.

However, the Subway restaurant at Galeries Terrebonne recently became the banner's first Canadian establishment to offer reusable tableware.

“Public acceptance is going really well and we are proud to be a part of this great initiative,” explained Joel Laliberte-Fillion, Subway Supervisor at Galeries Terrebonne.

“We hope others will get on board,” she adds.

The management of Galeries Terrebonne is pleased that all businesses comply with the regulations.

“When they're big banners, it's a little bit harder to follow them. It needed more approval and everything in terms of tableware and logos, but they were successful,” explains Magali Arbor Roy, General Director of Galeries Terrebonne.

The latter affirms that this new policy has already had a marginal impact on traders' budgets.

“In the long run, we'll see savings. It's a high initial cost to buy the dishes and everything, but compared to what they throw away, it's a good savings in scale,” Ms. Organized by Arbor Roy.
