"A New Era" |  Hockey Canada board chair tenders resignation

Hockey Canada board of directors chairman Michael Brind’Amore announced Saturday that he has submitted his resignation because “it is futile to wait before starting a new era.” He said he “can’t handle this revival” the organization needs.

“My last term ends in November 2022 and I know there is no need to wait before starting a new era. Urgent action is essential to address the pressing challenges facing our organization and our sport, and that is what our action plan is designed to do. “I cannot handle this renewal and therefore I have announced my resignation from the board of directors,” Mr. Brind’Amour said in a statement.

Earlier this week he said he was “promising” by the appointment of former Supreme Court judge Thomas Cromwell, who will have a mandate to review the organisation’s governance.

“This review will help us make the necessary changes. I am sure that the recommendations will lead the organization towards the desired changes,” said the outgoing president.

The latter also said he “wishes success to those who come after me,” vowing to “listen carefully to Canadians’ comments about the culture of our sport, our organization, our actions and our leadership.” . . .
