After 46 years as anchor, Pierre Bruno has announced his retirement

Pierre Bruno, a 46-year-old anchor at TVA, will retire on June 16.

The journalist made the announcement in a 5pm bulletin on Thursday evening. He says he is now ready for a “feel-good retirement”.

However, this fall viewers will find him in another role in the provincial election campaign.

“Even though beautiful things are waiting for us, the end of the chapter always causes instability. It is an honor for me to have a special bond with the people over the years. ‘

“I am heartily grateful for the loyalty of the viewers and their support and excellent work to my colleagues. I will be back this fall in the regional election campaign so the transition to this new phase in my life will be smooth.

Furthermore, Pierre Bruno continues to be an inspirer, organizer and spokesperson for the Charles-Bruno Foundation.

Pierre Carl Peladeu, interim president and CEO of Group TVA, paid tribute to Pierre Bruno in a press release.

“Pierre, you are an extraordinary person who is respected by your peers and loved by the people. It has been an honor to count you in a large Cubacore family for the past 46 years. Thanks to your passion and your professionalism, you have been able to bring the TVA news service to new heights, ”he wrote.

Mr. Péladeau emphasized the “very special bond” that the anchor had succeeded in forming “with all generations of Cubans”.

“Going through them every evening with toughness, relevance and humanity is an integral part of their daily lives.”

Pierre Bruno began his career as a journalist at CFDA Radio in Victoriaville in 1972. After working for CJTR Trois-Rivieres Radio, he worked at CKAC Montreal from 1973 to 1980.

He joined TVA (then Télé-Métropole) in 1976 as a news anchor.

Since 1978, he has run the TVA 12h reins as well as the 4:30 pm, 5pm and 6pm bulletins on LCN and TVA.

From the Polytechnic massacre to the blizzard, Pierre Bruno has joined viewers through significant events, including the September 11 attacks and the recent Kovid-19 pandemic.
