Agropur and the union have reached an agreement in principle

Agropur has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing 250 workers at its Granby plant, who have been on strike for just over a month.

Before presenting the contract in principle to employees, the two parties must first agree on the return-to-work protocol, explained Bernard Cournoyer, regional coordinator of the Central of Democratic Unions (CSD), in an interview with QMI Agency on Sunday. .

The union and the employer believe that the agreement should satisfy the workers in principle.

“There are elements in the contract that allow us to say we can deliver to our members,” Mr Cournoyer suggested.

With a milk production of 800,000 liters per day, the Agropur plant in Granby must transport these liters of milk to other plants in Quebec and Ontario for processing, which means additional costs for producers, processors and shippers.
