Harmful individuals caused hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of material damage when they entered a stone quarry between Saint-Gabriel-de-Rimowski and Saint-Marceline.
The incident took place on the night of May 26-27 at a quarry on Route 234 on the border of the two municipalities of Boss-Saint-Laurent.
According to Sereto du Quebec (SQ), one or more people attacked heavy machinery and equipment at the scene.
“We’re talking about broken windows on excavators and other vehicles and fires that start in trailers with various industrial equipment,” SQ spokesman Claude Doiran explained.
Pollution
The spillage of a few hundred liters of petroleum production after one of the fires heavily polluted the soil. Emergency environmental technicians had to go to the scene to contaminate the area.
In total, the damage is estimated at a few million dollars, including the costs associated with the monetization, which dictates the regional police forces.
The latter asks the public for help in gathering information to bring forward an ongoing investigation into this file.
Any information that could identify the perpetrators of these acts can be confidentially reported to the Certe du du Quebec’s Criminal Information Center at 1 800 659-4264.
