TVA Nouvelles reports that Coalition Avenir will rely on former Quebec mayor Longouil Carolyn Saint-Hillary to win the next general election.
The candidacy of the 52-year-old politician is due to be officially announced by Prime Minister Franois Legalt on June 5.
The former Black member has been elected to the Commons four times, where she sat between 1997 and 2008, and Mrs. Saint-Hilary became mayor of Langueil in 2009 after retiring twice in 2017.
Until the end of 2021, the politician invested in a media career, especially as a commentator on political news on the “La Jout” program on LCN.
It should be noted that Coalition Avenir Quebec has also chosen Caroline Saint-Hilaire to host her next meeting in Drummondville on May 28 and 29.
True pivotal riding, Sherbrook changed hands three times in a decade. In 2012, PQ member Serge Cardin defeated outgoing Liberal Premier Jean Charest, who lost the next election to Liberal Luke Fortin in 2013.
In the last election, solidarity Christine Labrie was elected with 34.27% of the vote. This puts her 3,450 votes ahead of outgoing MP Luke Fortin. At the time, CAQ candidate Bruno Wachon came in third with 23.39% of the vote.
