CH: Scotty Bowman doesn't close the door

After 14 years as a consultant in the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Scotty Bowman decided to turn the page. The 88-year-old announced through his Twitter account that he wants to continue playing hockey.

After the viral tweet reached TVASports.ca after being shared more than 700 times and liked by more than 6,500 internet users, on Tuesday afternoon, Verdunois was in an upbeat mood.

“I’m just like everyone else! I’m a free agent!” announced from the Buffalo area.

The decision to leave the Blackhawks was made in mid-June, when he said he was “not doing much.” Add to that the turmoil the organization has faced over the past year and it’s clear that Bowman needs a new challenge.

“It’s time to leave,” he announced. I had the opportunity to work with my son (Stan) and it was an experience I loved. He fell ill, but he has now recovered. It’s been a rough year, but it’s over. I look forward.”

Bowman won nine Stanley Cups as a head coach, including five with the Montreal Canadiens. His name was engraved on the prestigious trophy five more times while serving in administration for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and most recently the Blackhawks.

This meant that, at a time when Club de Hockey was at the center of Canadian reconstruction, one of the greatest hockey minds of the modern era was ready to listen to the 31 other teams on the circuit, both of which were the seventh floor in terms of ice alone.
