CHSLD: A pilot project to coordinate private companies

Minister Margaret Blaise, who is responsible for seniors and caregivers, on Thursday announced a pilot project to coordinate residential and long-term care centers (public and private CHSLDs).

The Quebec policy aims to make the services provided in all CHSLDs comparable to non-contractual private companies (PNCs).

Three sites were selected for the pilot project by three private companies subject to contract eligibility criteria, particularly the quality of care and services, the abundance of human and management resources, as well as building compatibility.

Selected companies are CHSLD PNC Cటేte Jardines and Jordins du Haute-Saint-Laurent in Quebec City and Residence du Bonhour in Laval.

“We are creating the conditions necessary to provide the highest quality services throughout Quebec, in a unified manner, for people who are concerned for safety and quality of life,” said Margaret Blaise, Minister for Senior and Custody Responsibility.

“By agreeing to private CHSLDs the epidemic has come to light on the terrible conditions we want to rectify,” Ms Blaise added.

Expected start

In response to Legalt government policy, the Association of Private Long-Term Institutions of Quebec (AELDPQ) is provoking the expected start in creating the right conditions for better quality services for accommodation residents.

After already denying funding to PNC organizations, the association was surprised at the $ 300 million planned for PNC CHSLDs in 2019 and asked Quebec to take financial support measures for all organizations.
