COVID-19: Two Amazon outlets in Ontario partially closed

Two Amazon distribution centers in Brampton and Bolton in the Peel area of ​​Ontario were partially closed on Saturday due to the spread of COVID-19 cases.

Public health in the Peel area has ordered the partial closure of these facilities, the new regulations, which came into force on Tuesday, to reduce the spread in the workplace.

It is possible to read in the public health statement that “shutdown occurs when five or more tests in the workplace are positive for COVID-19 in 14 days”, which does not confirm the number of infected employees.

An Amazon spokesman at CP24 said three teams from central Brampton and one team from central Bolton would be affected by the closure.

“Our last-line mandatory tests confirmed a 1% positivity rate, and the risk of spreading in our establishment is low,” the American multinational also said in a statement.

This is not the first time the Brampton facility has been infected with the virus, and last month Amazon had to shut down the center for two weeks.
