Dozens of people were treated for cardiac arrest in Seoul on Saturday during Halloween celebrations, South Korean firefighters said.

A spokesperson of the fire department said that 140 ambulances were dispatched to the scene and assisted the victims.

According to Yonhap Agency, about 50 people suffered heart attacks in Itaewon district, where thousands of people were celebrating Halloween.

The victims appear to have been caught up in mob activity in the district, where Halloween celebrations bring large numbers of people together in the South Korean capital.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol called for hospitals to be ready to receive the wounded, the presidency said.

Photographs released by Yonhap showed more than a dozen people lying on a street, with rescuers helping them as police surrounded the crowd.
