Google Home Speaker Gets June Launch Date Listing From Canadian Retailer

Google’s long-awaited return to the smart speaker market may finally be close. After first teasing the new Google Home Speaker during its Made by Google 2025 event last August, the company now appears to be preparing for a late June release, according to a Canadian retail listing.

The upcoming device, powered by Google’s Gemini AI platform, is expected to mark the company’s first major smart speaker launch since 2020.

Best Buy Canada Listing Points to June 25 Release

A product page briefly spotted on Best Buy Canada’s website lists June 25, 2026 as the release date for the Google Home Speaker. The same date has not appeared on the U.S. version of the retailer’s site, and Google has not yet updated its own online store with official launch information.

While Google has not publicly confirmed the timing, the listing suggests the company could be nearing the end of development for both the hardware and software experience.

Gemini Integration Still in Early Access

Industry observers believe the hardware itself is already finalized, with software refinement likely remaining the main focus ahead of launch.

Google’s Gemini for Home platform is still part of the company’s Early Access program. Since March, Google has regularly updated preview features for existing Nest speakers and smart displays, with improvements reportedly arriving several times each month.

The new speaker is expected to showcase Gemini’s conversational AI features more prominently, positioning the device as a next-generation smart home hub.

Pricing, Colours and Design Details

The Google Home Speaker is expected to retail for $99.99 USD, placing it in direct competition with smart speakers from Amazon and Apple in the mid-range market.

Google plans to release the speaker in four colour options:

  • Berry
  • Hazel
  • Jade
  • Porcelain

The design features a 360-degree fabric exterior, giving the device a softer and more home-friendly appearance. The only exposed section is the base, which includes a ring of status lights and a physical microphone mute switch.

Home Theatre and Multi-Room Audio Features

One of the notable additions is support for pairing two Google Home Speakers with the Google TV Streamer to create a home theatre audio setup.

Users will also be able to create stereo pairs and connect the speaker with existing Nest devices for multi-room audio playback throughout the home.

These additions could help Google strengthen its position in Canada’s growing smart home market, where consumers increasingly use connected speakers for streaming, automation and voice-controlled entertainment.

Google Expands Availability Across Multiple Markets

Google plans to launch the speaker in 19 countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Canada’s inclusion in the first wave highlights the country’s importance for Google’s smart home ecosystem, particularly as competition intensifies among AI-powered consumer devices.

A Major Return to Google’s Smart Speaker Lineup

The upcoming Google Home Speaker represents Google’s first new speaker hardware in several years and could signal a broader push into AI-driven home technology.

With Gemini integration at the centre of the experience, the company appears to be positioning the speaker as more than just a voice assistant device, instead aiming to deliver a more conversational and personalized smart home platform.
