(Ottawa) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said the Kovid-19 vaccine will be a top priority for the country in 2022.
Mr Trudeau wished him a Happy New Year in a statement released on Friday.
He said Canadians must “continue to work together by 2022” to end the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Prime Minister recalled that the country had to deal with its “historic mistakes” after finding anonymous graves and cemeteries near the former residential schools for indigenous peoples.
He stressed that the year 2021 is especially striving for tribals. He said the government was committed to helping all those affected by residential schools and the national tragedy of missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA + people.
Trudeau said Canadians also faced the consequences of climate change: unprecedented heat waves, wildfires and floods.
“Based on the hard lessons we have learned over the past two years, we will end the fight against this epidemic and rebuild a stronger, more just and more equal Canada,” he pledged.
