TVA and Quebecor Content explained via email that the series, created by Sophie Deschênes (“Before the Crash”, “A Criminal Case”, “19-2”) from Sovimage, was a programming choice that had nothing to do with quality.
“Following reflections on TVA’s medium-term programming strategy, TVA and Quebecor Content have decided not to renew the “Hotel” series, which will end in April 2023. Obviously, announcing the end of a series is not easy. However, in order to succeed in offering programming with a variety of original Quebec productions on our platforms – Each year we are reminded to make choices – sometimes heartbreaking.
The first 12 episodes were directed by Eric Tessier and the remaining 12 episodes by Jean-Carl Boucher, from texts by Nathalie Bourdelais, Rachel Cardillo, Marie-Frédéric Laberge-Milot and Annie Langlois. Filming is already over.
As a reminder, “Hotel” was supposed to air last January, but the broadcaster was forced to immediately change its plans due to a labor shortage at the editor level, programming in December 2021 instead of “Fault 2 in the winter schedule.
“Hotel” also stars Jeff Boudreault, Catherine Chabot, Christian de la Cortina, Olivier Gervais-Courchesne, Eve Lemieux, Mirelle Metellus and Olivia Palaccy. Plots maintained by distribution continue until spring.
The first and final seasons air in progress every Thursday at 8pm on TVA.
