There are four candidates to replace Dominic Anglade as PLQ leader

Here are four potential candidates for Dominique Anglade’s succession mentioned in the PLQ ranks.

Pierre Moreau

The name of Pierre Moreau, a former Liberal minister under Jean Charest and Philippe Couillard, had been bandied about in Liberal ranks for months.

The lawyer is a skilled communicator, but he has made it known in the past that leadership of the PLQ is not in his plans.

Andre Fortin

The only Liberal MP elected outside of Greater Montreal, elected Pontiac was in the starting blocks of the final campaign for the leadership of the PLQ, before leaving the race for family reasons.

Aline race

Member of Parliament for Richmond-Arthabasca, Alain Reyes was knocked on the door of the Conservative Party of Canada after Pierre Poilivre’s victory, and he now sits as an independent.

His regional profile will appeal to a good number of Quebec Liberals, especially given his support for Jean Charest’s candidacy for the CPC leadership.

In regional politics though, he has an ADQ past.

Alain Race, who joined on Tuesday, reiterated his aim to complete his tenure at the federal level.

“I am not in a mode to seek support or check my support for PLQ’s leadership race,” he asserted.

Joel Lightbound

Elected from Ottawa since 2015, the 34-year-old Liberal has distanced himself from Justin Trudeau’s caucus over a number of issues over the past year.

According to our information, the young lightbound does not close the door on a possible race to follow Dominic Anglade.

Since PLQ’s recent Montreal film, some say it could revive training.

However, other liberals felt that he had no grounding in the forces and that he lacked the reputation of being a consummate team player.
