Fridge door seal that needs repair

When the doors are closed, the rubber door seal creates an airtight barrier, but it may fracture, rip, or become loosened over time.  When this happens, condensation builds up inside the refrigerator as warm air enters through the doors.

Look for any damage to the door seal that can let warm air in. The door seal must be replaced if it is damaged.

The Defrost Drain Is Obscured Or Filled

Excess water from the defrost system is transferred through the defrost tube to the drain pan under the refrigerator. Because of its location along the back wall of the freezer, residual water droplets can freeze inside the tube and block the drain. Clogs in or around the drain can also be caused by debris and food particles. If there are obstructions, water can seep from the bottom of the refrigerator.

The drain tube and/or drain must be free of any obstructions to stop the leak. There is usually a drain on the back of the freezer compartment to defrost the refrigerator. Use a hair dryer to melt any ice that has accumulated. To remove visible obstructions, use a straight, sturdy piece of wire or run hot water down the drain to melt ice plugs.

Water filter leakage

Water filter problems are usually the cause of water leaks from the refrigerator. These leaks usually occur inside the refrigerator or in the filter housing.

Leaking Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve opens and closes to allow water from your home plumbing to flow through your refrigerator. This water then provides filtered water and ice for the refrigerator. A cracked or broken valve can cause leaks on the floor under the refrigerator because it is located near the water line at the bottom of the fridge.

The inlet valve should be checked by a professional and replaced if necessary, as it is difficult to access for inspection.

Leaking Refrigerator Drain Pan

Residual water from the defrost system collects in the drain pan under the refrigerator, where it finally evaporates. It must be replaced because cracks in the drain pan are causing water to seep onto the floor underneath.
