A young woman crossing a street in the Saint-Henri district was shocked Wednesday afternoon when she found a huge pothole in the road.
While on the surface everything seemed almost normal, a small hole caught the attention of Osien Robert, who was going to do some shopping at the pharmacy at 4pm.
She was crossing rue Rose-de-Lima when she saw the workmen. “I almost fell!” She said in an interview with TVANouvelles.ca.
Curious about this unusual opening that doesn’t look like a hole, she photographed the interior.
In the short video, we see a deep and especially large cavity. “Check me out how hollow this hole is!”, we hear her say over the pictures she sent to TVA Nouvelles.
“I saw the asphalt going in and out,” the young Montrealer explained.
Worried that the street might collapse, she tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver didn’t know what to say.
“It’s a one-way street with lots of bikes and few cars,” she adds.
The citizen adds that the pavement work was done there, but 2 years ago.
We reached out to the City of Montreal to have more details and see if they would intervene to secure the space sooner.
More details will follow.
