It is good news that the decision of Mayor Sylvie Parent not to run in the upcoming municipal elections has accelerated Ms. Fournier’s thinking on the matter. This information was first revealed by political columnist Bernard Drainville on 98.5 FM.
OmTo me Fournier has been contacted for the past two years, but the idea of running was not seriously considered until recently.
The 28-year-old, who was re-elected under the PQ banner in 2018, now sits as an independent MP. When the sovereign establishment was abandoned in March 2019, Ms. Fournier announced that the PQ was no longer the right vehicle for Quebec to become independent.
Longhuil Mayor Sylvie Parent announced Wednesday that she will not run in the November municipal elections.
After eight years as a municipal councilor, becoming mayor in 2017, Ms. Parent said in an official statement that she wanted to be the leader for her party, Action LongJuele – Sylvie Parent’s team for a maximum of 60 days.
