Legault no longer calls GND Awakening

DRUMMONDVILLE — CAQ leader Francois Legault doesn’t intend to fight Vox alongside Conservative leaders Pierre Poilivre and Eric Duhaime, and he’s already regretting calling Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois that way.

During the first major militant rally in Drummondville, in a speech to whip up his troops, Quebec Solidaire representative Francois Legault was the only target. “Mr Nadeau-Dubois: A taxman faster than his shadow,” began the CAQ Leader.

At a later press briefing, François Legault went there with a me culpa, while journalists questioned Pierre Poilivre’s victory as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (CCP).

Eric Duhaime, the leader of Quebec’s Conservative Party, was quick to point out that while Mr. Poilievre pledged in his victory speech to free the country from a “centralized and awakened government in Ottawa,” Resume on his own – François Legault carefully avoided going down the same path.

“I can be impulsive”

He returned to an exchange at the Blue Salon, almost a year ago to the day, during which Mr. Naudeau-Dubois compared him to Maurice Duplessis.

“Maurice Duplessis, he had many faults, but he defended his country. He did not wake up like the head of Quebec Solidaire,” said Mr. Legault.

“In the heat of the moment, it would have been impulsive for me. I shouldn’t have done that,” the CAQ chief lamented on Sunday.

“You remember when I used the word ‘woke’ with Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, who called me by a different name… If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t do it again,” said Mr. Legault.

“So I don’t think we’re going to continue with the definition and then continue to replace the voicism,” Chief Caquist added.

A timid reaction

CAQ leader Mr. Poilievre reacted very coyly to the victory, without saying whether he would support the CPC again, as he did in the last federal election.

“I have never met Mr. Poilivre, commented Mr. Legault, who says he does not know him. If I am elected on October 3 – whoever the leaders of the federal parties are – I will continue to protect the interests of Quebec and Quebecers.

LNG Quebec: “Non-negotiable”

“I will protect the interests of Quebecers and, among other things, I want Quebec to gain more powers. Among other things, in terms of identity, in terms of immigration; the federal government also respects the jurisdiction of Quebec, such as health,” hit Mr. Legault.

For the LNG Quebec project, Mr. Poilievre wants to materialize in Saguenay, which François Legault confirmed is “non-negotiable”.

“The file is closed,” the CAQ chief reiterated, saying no to the project due to lack of social acceptability.
