The New Jersey Devils have been doing great things this season and the best are yet to come, says Martin Brodiur.

He said this in an interview with Jean-Charles Lazoi on TVA Sports on Thursday.

“We are happy. With all the changes we have made, we expect an adjustment period. But we have a good start to the season. Young people are answering the call.”

He also praised the merit of former goalkeeper Jack Hughes. After a tough first season in the National Hockey League (NHL), the 2019 draft pick has seven points from six games so far this season.

“He really wants to be the best on the ice. He failed to do this last year. He took a break during the epidemic to work on his muscle strength. The more we surround him, the more he can perform.”

The Devil’s Legend believes that much of the credit goes to Lindy Ruff and her team of coaches.

“It’s a big reason for our success. A guy like Mark Recci also helps a lot in power play. Our young people have gained experience and we can see that.”

Brodyur said the new pilot of New Jersey training, PK Subban, will make a positive impact at the start of the season.

“He’s in amazing physical shape. Lindy never let go. He talks to her and he trusts her. It makes PK a little more valuable and helps him produce a little more. He plays with Ryan Murray and it helps him.”

Regarding the fact that they play in times of epidemic, Quebec players believe they are lucky to be able to exercise their profession. However, he adds that this must happen under safe conditions.

“We hope to have supporters, but the important thing right now is that everything is going well and we have a season. We can not wait until people come and watch the games. In addition, we are playing well this year after some difficult seasons. I know the same is true in Montreal.”
