NHL: Is Craig Anderson Retired?

Goalkeeper Craig Anderson will soon announce his retirement from professional hockey.

Brian McClellan, general manager of Washington Capitals, suggested Saturday. The CEO made the announcement Saturday at a press conference next to the 2021 draft.

The 40-year-old veteran, who serves as the “Caps” third goalie, played four regular seasons and two playoff games in the 2020-2021 campaign, his first in a Washington club uniform.

Previously, Anderson played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators. In 654 National League games, he has a 292-252-70 record, a .913 save rate and an average of 2.84 goals.

A Lundquist?

McClellan spoke about the case of Goli Henrik Lundquist. Sweden opened a one-year deal with the capital last October, but had to give up the 2020-2021 season due to a heart problem.

“I think they’m looking forward to seeing if he’s medically clear before they talk about coming back to play. I want him to play as well as he did last year. Not to mention that you want to see.
