Opponents of health measures speak out in Montreal

Nearly a thousand people demonstrated health measures in downtown Montreal on Saturday afternoon to continue their dissatisfaction with the decisions taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“The People’s March (my body is my choice) who thinks it will go too far” first convened at 1:30 pm in front of Health Canada offices, in Boulevard Rene-Lowesque.

Armed with their placards, Quebec flags and their megaphones, they set off for the park issued by Saint-Laurent Boulevard. However, they assured not to disturb the nearby vaccination centers.

Emmanuel Angled, a spokesman for the Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM), said in the middle of the afternoon that “everything is going on regularly and there are no incidents to report.”

The walk organizer, Mel Goyer, said in a press release that the health emergency should end immediately, but also stopped wearing the vaccine passport and QR code or mask. She also demanded “more transparency from the government”.

Saturday’s demonstration was far less crowded than it was at the Olympic Stadium on May 1, with nearly 20,000 opponents gathered.
