20^EAn edition of the Quebec Toy Parade was held on Saturday in the presence of thousands of spectators, for whom the event became a symbol of the start of the Christmas festivities.

“For us, it’s become a tradition. Kids love it and it’s a sign that the holidays are coming!” Melinda Leme said with her children.

At 11 a.m., 13 floats marched with paintings and colorful animators in front of crowded platforms on the premises of the Flor de Lies Shopping Center.

The course, which lasts about 30 minutes, is done almost fifteen times on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., before resuming at 5 p.m.

“We’ll definitely be back. We really liked it!” Kevin Laroche, who is enjoying the event for the first time, said.

Demon Craze

This particular pandemic edition – usually where tanks roam the city streets – is particularly popular.

One afternoon, all tickets available for the parade ran out on November 2nd. It identified “tens of thousands” of places within about 1 hour 30.

“It warms my heart to see how much people appreciate our work, but it’s a shame for those who can not be there .We will do what we can with the COVID-19 conditions,” said Mirel Tremblay, director and producer of the Ateliers Balthazar Parade.

It emphasizes that the event will also be used to collect toys or food donations for people in need. Last year, donations were counted in tons and we want to do the same this year.

Despite the success of this particular new edition of the Toy Parade, the organizers and spectators are eager to return to their usual concept.
