Pascal Dery, a former journalist and politician with conservative and federalist allegiances, will be a candidate for the Avenir Quebec coalition in Repentance. Despite her most recent role as director of communications with Air Canada’s monolingual English-speaking CEO, she assures us she will always support Bill 96.

After the candidacies of ex-PQ member Bernard Drainville and ex-Bloquist member Caroline St-Hilaire, the CAQ turned to the Canadian Conservative wing to fill its ranks for the next election.
Prime Minister Francois Legault introduced former LCN news anchor Pascale Déry in a riding of repentance on Tuesday morning. She succeeds Lise Lavallee, who announced her retirement from politics at the same time.
French Square
From 2020, Mr.me Derry is the director of media relations for Quebec. Despite living in Montreal for several years, she remains by CEO Michael Rousseau’s side.
When Mr. Rousseau was appointed, Mr.me Announced to Derry Log DPG “speaks functional French, which he constantly strives to improve”. But he doesn’t speak French.

When asked about this, Pascale Dery argued that companies must now comply with Law 96, a law which she adheres to. “French’s position is non-negotiable,” she said. It also “endorses” Law 21 on religious symbols.
A conservative past
A candidate for Stephen Harper’s federal Conservatives in 2015, Mme Derry assures that his past is compatible with CAQ’s values.
“I am a nationalist. It is Quebec first and foremost. “In 2015, I went to the federal government to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Quebec and protect the interests of Quebecers,” she defended herself, recalling that the CAQ is a “broad coalition.”
The Prime Minister also defended his new candidate’s past. “What is important is that we are a nationalist party. We defend the French language, Quebec values and culture in Canada,” said François Legault.
Change of speech
Prior to his time at Air Canada, Mr.me Dery also worked at the Montreal Economic Institute, an organization that advocated the economic right and state retrenchment. During that time, she positioned herself against the Centers for Early Childhood (CPE) funding.
“It’s a snapshot of the moment,” she pleaded today, arguing that “the CPE model has really changed a lot” and “evolved” since 2018.
According to Eric Duhaime, leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec, Mr.me Dery is an “opportunist” who is sanctioned by the population.
“I can’t wait to see Em.me Dery on content, explain to us how this government respects its conservative ideals, how this government has increased the deficit to the highest level in the history of Quebec,” the PCQ leader began.
