“Everyone wants to bite us or grab something from us. But they need to know this, they are trying to do this, we are going to break our teeth so they can not bite anymore, ”Putin told a patriotic organization.

“With the collapse of the USSR) even after losing a third of its capacity, some say Russia is still very large. The truth is, the potential is huge and its territory is the largest in the world,” he said in a television broadcast.

He did not specify which countries were targeted by the comments.

He also referred to the latest weapons, such as the “avant-garde” supersonic missiles developed by Russia, capable of overcoming any anti-missile defense system.

Mr. Putin used to make shocking sentences or offensive jokes to praise his country and threaten opponents.

In 2016, “Russia’s borders will never end” began on television, two years after the occupation of Crimea by the Ukrainian peninsula and a year after President Bashar al-Assad launched his army in Syria.

Relations between Russia and the West have always been strained following allegations of multiple conflicts over Ukraine and Syria, electoral interference, guerrilla activity and cyber attacks on Moscow.

Moscow on Thursday welcomed “positive signals” in Russian-American relations after Washington lifted some sanctions against the strategic Nord Stream 2 pipeline and a “constructive” meeting between the two countries’ diplomatic heads.
