Roadblocks | Several closures on bridges leading into Montreal this weekend

The weekend promises to be another busy one in terms of bottlenecks on Montreal’s road network. Motorists also avoid many bridges.

This is especially true of the Papineau-LeBlanc bridge, where Highway 19 runs between Laval and Montreal, which will be completely closed in both directions from 10 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday.

The Ministry of Transport anticipates increased congestion in the area and recommends that road users planning to travel there allow more time to reach their destination.

The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel will also be closed overnight in both directions between Montreal and Longueuil from 11 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday and from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday.

To overcome this obstacle, the Mobilite Montreal company invites motorists to use the Jacques-Cartier bridge.

At the Saint-Pierre interchange, Mobilité Montreal warns that the ramp from Route 138 to Autoroute 20 will be closed from 11:59 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Route 138 eastbound will be completely closed between Rue Clement and the interchange.

In Montreal, southbound Pie-IX Boulevard between Hochelaga and Ontario streets will be completely closed from Friday 11pm to Monday 5pm for work on the Rapid Bus Service (SRB) project.

Due to a systems update, Réseau express Métropolitan (REM) users will not be left behind as service will not start until 7:30am on Saturday. A bus shuttle runs between Brossard and Central Station stations from 5:30am to 7:30am.

This reduced schedule is already in place at night from October 15 and will see service disruptions from as early as 10pm until the network reopens the following day.
