Rolling Stones drummer could miss US tour

Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, 80, was at risk of missing the group’s US tour in the fall due to medical reasons, his spokesman said Thursday.

“Charlie had a successful operation, but his doctors believe he needs to rest,” the spokesman said without further ado.

“A few weeks before the rehearsals, it was frustrating, to say the least, something no one had ever seen coming,” he said.

The trip, which was originally scheduled for last year, was postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic. It begins September 26 in St. Louis and ends November 20 in Austin, Texas.

Steve Jordan will replace Charlie Watts.

“We can’t wait to find Charlie again after he fully recovers,” Mick Jagger tweeted. “Thanks to our friend Steve Jordan for joining us, so we can show you all the shows planned for you this fall,” the singer and band leader said.
