Sanitation rules: The capacity of exhibition halls can be increased by mid-October

Depending on the Delta variant prevalence after the start of the school year, public health theaters may be allowed to accommodate more people in mid-October. This was indicated by Culture Minister Nathalie Roy when she entered the Cabinet on Wednesday.

“We are closely monitoring what happens with the Delta variant and what happens when children are brought back to school, and in light of that, Public Health says she will return to us in mid – October, and we sincerely hope she can announce an increase in the number of people in her room,” she explained.

Currently, performance halls, amphitheaters and indoor stadiums with allocated seating are allowed to accommodate up to 3,500 spectators. For this, however, a number of conditions must be met. Specifically, vacancies should be divided into a maximum of 250 sections and should have independent entry points, exit points and sanitary facilities.

Despite these rules, Minister Nathalie Roy is adamant that “a very good fall will have a cultural return, especially thanks to the introduction of the vaccine passport from 1”^Is September.

“The vaccine passport will have great security for the audience. There will be more spectators in the hall, more performances, more artists on stage, and I believe this will make a big difference with the return we know last year,” she said.

Aware of the difficulties the community is facing after being forced to close for a second time in the fall of 2020, Nathalie Roy says she wants to avoid a new episode of this genre by all means.
