Surrey McDonald's closed after employee tests positive for COVID-19

Vancouver – A McDonald’s restaurant in Surrey closed last weekend after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

An employee working at McDonald’s at 8586 120 St. reported a positive test on Saturday, September 12, the company said in a news release.

“With great care, the certified third party decided to close the restaurant immediately for complete cleaning and sanitation,” the company said in a statement.

It asked all employees who are in close contact with a person who has tested positive to “self-detain until further information is available.”

The employee’s most recent shift was Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., McDonald’s Canada said. The company recommends that anyone who visits the restaurant that day follow the advice of the British Columbia Center for Disease Control, which recommends testing anyone who experiences even mild symptoms of COVID-19.

Although the restaurant was closed, Fraser Health did not issue a public exposure notice, which BC health officials did when there was a risk of transmitting COVID-19 in public, and officials could not confirm that they were able to contact everyone. Who may be exposed.

Three other McDonald’s locations in Lower Mainland have been temporarily closed since late August due to coronavirus cases.
