Test – Epos H3 Hybrid Gaming Headset – H3 wins back over Bluetooth Xbox One

The Epos H3 Hybrid follows from the wired model released in April this year (tested here by Mac) and takes the basics, offering many new connection possibilities. With a 3.5mm jack, it is now possible to connect to your PC via USB as well as pair via Bluetooth, which is practical while traveling.

What’s in the box?

With two cables (USB C – USB and Angle Jack / Jack), headset and microphone cover, the packaging is simple and reveals no surprises.

Unfortunately, there is no shield to transport it, although it is among the most high-end models of the competition. Too bad for a nomadic helmet at all.

With regard to autonomy, Epos announced 37 hours on Bluetooth, which is similar to our results. Note that it also consumes its battery, which was once wired on the jack (from now on, count to twenty hours), but not on USB (Logic) and is always available in two colors, white or black.

Note, the bass rendering is particularly impressive for headphones of this range.

Pleasure in the head

To be clear, the helmet is very comfortable to wear, it is light and comfortable, adjusts directly to our head, the foam completely covers the ears and the upper part is padded. You will not experience it even after many hours of use.

The microphone is automatically cut off after lifting and it is also possible to remove it easily, making it more convenient to replace the magnet (and replace it with the cover provided in the box). The headset has a second microphone, this time integrated, which is activated after the microphone boom is removed, proving to be effective after all the basics. In ergonomics we get what is lost in micro quality.

The side wheel is coming back compared to the wired model, so there is a mechanical circle on the right side of the headset that allows volume management, which is similar to older iPods. Pretty much more practical, the simple classic wheel was more efficient. Additionally, there is a stop button to pair with a Bluetooth device and another (for example on a laptop to play in XCloud).

The king is back!

As for the sound component, this revision of the H3, as well as its predecessor, has already excelled in this field. With a good presence of bass and precise treble, this H3 hybrid does not envy the competition in terms of sound quality. Note, the bass rendering is particularly impressive for headphones of this range.

There is also quality 7.1 surround sound. The microphone is also of good quality and reliably transcribes the wearer’s voice, although it picks up parasitic sounds from the room that are against the direction of the microphone even when they are behind us.

We advise you to connect to your PC and install Epos software from the first use, you can modify many useful options through this program.

It is possible to activate the automatic standby, change the mapping of the headset button, modify the sound spectrum as well as calibrate the microphone. There is also a noise gate but that does not solve the sensitivity problem of the microphone.
