“The appeal against the judgment is dismissed. The sentence appeal was also dismissed. The appellant must be taken into custody at 4pm on Thursday, November 10,” said the Crown Attorney in the case, Mr Francis Pilot.

In February 2020, he received a reduced prison sentence of two years a day for breach of trust charges.

A jury convicted the former chief magistrate of threatening a city clerk by having a private detective follow her while she was on sick leave between July 2014 and May 2015.

On his first day in office on November 3, 2013, Gingras suspended the city manager.

It was one of his election promises, which the Crown considers a breach of trust, of which he was found guilty in a Joliet courthouse.
