The mayor of Gaspé intervened on Wednesday during an attack on a controller on the TGV Paris – Saint-Malo in France.
Daniel Cote was not indifferent when a passenger attacked the controller in question.
According to the newspaper Western FranceA Quebec elected official said a passenger was “particularly rowdy and talking very loudly” while he was working quietly on the TGV, disturbing the tranquility of the passengers.
A few minutes later, the controller appeared in the car.
The passenger allegedly made harsh comments before pouncing on the worker. No one responded except the Côte-de-Gaspé MRC prefect and the mayor of Gaspé, who is president of the Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ).
Mr. Cote, a volunteer firefighter in Gaspé, managed to immobilize the suspect in the hallway before the gendarmes arrived once at the station.

The controller would also return to thank the mayor for his brave action.
Daniel Côté is currently based in Europe for UMQ.
As mayor of Gaspé, he must also travel to Saint-Malo to resume the twin contract.
He reached Bordeaux on Sunday.
