(Montreal) Strike days on June 14, 15 and 16 at 31 French language school service centers and two English language school boards have been canceled.
The decision was taken by unions affiliated with the Federation of Public Service Employees (FEESP-CSN) due to “significant progress in the negotiating table”.
“At the Sectoral Table, we agreed on important issues for the school support staff, and at the Central Table, the negotiations are progressing positively, especially on CSN’s demand for special attention to low – wage workers. Therefore, the June 14, 15 and 16 strikes were canceled,” FEESP-CSN said. President Annie Charland said in a press release issued Tuesday evening.
According to FEESP-CSN President Nathalie Arguin, “the extraordinary mobilization of the school sector on May 26 and 27” has made it to the negotiating table that a strike next week is no longer necessary.
The FEESP-CSN school sector represents 35,000 support staff, including 37 unions affiliated to the Federation of Public Service Employees (FEESP-CSN), 31 French language school service centers and 2 English language school boards.
