Following his crisis staff meeting on Sunday, Trudeau said the government would recently require increased screening of travelers from the UK.

Several European countries, including France, Germany and the Netherlands, have previously announced that they will suspend air traffic from the United Kingdom.

Yves-Franois Blanchett, leader of the Black Quebecois, was the first in the country to seek to follow the Trudeau government.

“While the variant of COVID-19 is spreading at an increasing rate among the people causing harm, these effects are detrimental to public health as well as to the health system and staff who are already in dire straits. Stress,” he appealed.

The next day, the Conservatives called on the Liberal government to take action on file.

The group that eventually made the decision included Health Minister Patty Hajdu, Public Safety and Emergency Response Minister Bill Blair, Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominique LeBlanc, Foreign Minister Franois-Philippe Champagne and Transport Minister Mark Garnio.

The flight from London, which was scheduled to arrive at Montreal-Trudeau airport on Sunday evening, was canceled before their decision could be made.

Keep in mind that this new strain of virus is 70% more contagious than COVID-19.

However, recently developed vaccines against the virus are still effective against this variant.

“Although preliminary data suggest that the variant found in the United Kingdom may be more contagious, there is no evidence so far that mutations can affect the severity of symptoms, the immune response, or the effectiveness of vaccines,” Ottawa said in a statement released this evening.
