(Washington) In the cut-out world of online dating, anything can win over potential mates. And in the United States, the White House hopes to make the vaccine the ultimate argument.
Tinder, OakCupid, Hinge, Bumble … all major dating apps will join the effort, opening up new features to people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, a U.S. executive announced Friday.
Andy Slavit, a White House adviser on the fight against COVID-19, said in a press conference that “vaccination” makes us all more attractive. He said all of these apps would bring together more than 50 million people in America.
In recent months, the term “fully vaccinated” has already appeared in the profiles of many users, who have chosen to refer to this description in their description.
The White House now wants to promote the trend, hoping to boost its immunity campaign, which has slowed sharply since April.
In Tinder, users will be able to attach a “I am vaccinating” or “I will be vaccinated soon” badge to their profile. They also have access to “premium” features, the ability to send “super like” to someone, allowing them to indicate their strong interest.

In OkCupid, vaccinated individuals are able to enhance their profile, with their potential “matches” appearing on the screen in priority. A match allows two people to start a virtual chat.
All users can apply the filter only to find a partner who has been vaccinated.
“According to a study by Occupied, people who are vaccinated or planned are 14% more likely than unplanned individuals,” the White House said.
“It’s important for young people to know where they are,” Andy Slavit said.
He said the apps would also help identify places to take the vaccine.
More than 60% of adults (approximately 160 million people) have already received at least one dose of the three vaccines authorized in the United States. President Joe Biden aims to reach 70% by July 4.
