Capacity increase

Many CIUSSS and CISSS in the Montreal area are planning to reopen clinics and increase their capacity in other ways to reach the Quebec goal of vaccinating 600,000 people in the coming weeks.

This is the case with CISSS de Laval, which will spend next week from two to four vaccination sites.

In addition, demand for the third dose on Friday in Laval was so strong that it caused two-hour queues at the walk-in center, forcing CISSS to cancel the free appointment offer, explained Isabelle Parent, director of vaccination. She wants to “prevent adults from waiting in the cold”.

“In the tone of a press briefing [de mercredi soir] Who are the most serious, [vendredi] The morning was completely out of control. Months have passed since we saw this and I would say it is equal to the demand we have in the spring. “

Towards the CIUSSS du Center-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, the excitement for the first dose of places is not yet strong.

According to our information, the vaccination center at the largest Olympic stadium in Quebec will remain open and increase its capacity.

Propagation of the third dose

“Interest in the booster dose has increased significantly in recent days,” observed Marjorie Lauro of MSSS.

Ministry data showed Friday that 80- to 84-year-olds took the third dose the most, with 68% taking it or making an appointment. This percentage reaches 65% of those aged 85 and over, 67% of those aged 75 to 79 and 61% of those aged 70 to 74 years.

The government will soon implement advertising and publicity campaigns in an effort to increase vaccine coverage with the booster dose.
